چکیده

In an interval graph G = (V,E) the distance between two vertices u, v is de£ned as the smallest number of edges in a path joining u and v. The eccentricity of a vertex v is the maximum among distances from all other vertices of V . The diameter (δ) and radius (ρ) of the graph G is respectively the maximum and minimum among all the eccentricities of G. The center of the graph G is the set C(G) of vertices with eccentricity ρ. In this context our aim is to establish the relation ρ = ⌈ δ 2 ⌉ for an interval graph and to determine the center of it. Keywords—Interval graph, interval tree, radius, center.

Diameter Two Graphs of Minimum Order with Given Degree Set

The degree set of a graph is the set of its degrees. Kapoor et al. [Degree sets for graphs, Fund. Math. 95 (1977) 189-194] proved that for every set of positive integers, there exists a graph of diameter at most two and radius one with that degree set. Furthermore, the minimum order of such a graph is determined. A graph is 2-self- centered if its radius and diameter are two. In this paper for ...

New bounds on proximity and remoteness in graphs

The average distance of a vertex $v$ of a connected graph $G$is the arithmetic mean of the distances from $v$ to allother vertices of $G$. The proximity $pi(G)$ and the remoteness $rho(G)$of $G$ are defined as the minimum and maximum averagedistance of the vertices of $G$. In this paper we investigate the difference between proximity or remoteness and the classical distanceparameters diameter a...

The Center and Periphery of Composite Graphs

The center (periphery) of a graph is the set of vertices with minimum (maximum) eccentricity. In this paper, the structure of centers and peripheries of some classes of composite graphs are determined. The relations between eccentricity, radius and diameter of such composite graphs are also investigated. As an application we determine the center and periphery of some chemical graphs such as nan...

Total graph of a $0$-distributive lattice

Let £ be a $0$-distributive lattice with the least element $0$, the greatest element $1$, and ${rm Z}(£)$ its set of zero-divisors. In this paper, we introduce the total graph of £, denoted by ${rm T}(G (£))$. It is the graph with all elements of £ as vertices, and for distinct $x, y in £$, the vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $x vee y in {rm Z}(£)$. The basic properties of the ...

Wiener Index of Graphs in Terms of Eccentricities

The Wiener index W(G) of a connected graph G is defined as the sum of the distances between all unordered pairs of vertices of G. The eccentricity of a vertex v in G is the distance to a vertex farthest from v. In this paper we obtain the Wiener index of a graph in terms of eccentricities. Further we extend these results to the self-centered graphs.
